It Weren’t Like That In My Day

Remember school Physics lessons? All that head-scratching, ticker-tapes, swimmy hard information on amps and ohms and circuits and currents? Me neither. What I do remember was that it was very difficult indeed to grasp, and that travelling to school on days with physics in the timetable was far less nice than travelling to school on days without.

So who changed what, and when, to the extent that my son arrived home from school yesterday saying Physics was fantastic fun because he was able to send a message to his friend, in Morse Code, saying: ‘My Ass Is On Fire?’

My Physics teacher use to say “take a clip, boy” before clipping you round the ear. Glad to hear physics is fun these days. That’s how it should be.
By the way, did he put the fire out?

Wake up to the fact that that telephone call is never going to come. You know – the one that goes: ‘Erica! Erica! Thank goodness you’re at home! The entire writing crew of the BBC Drama Department has gone down with a nasty bug! We’ve been hearing you do a bit of writing – can you come down and save the day?networking
