When my daughter was about four, she was asked by her daddy whether she would like to go sailing. Would she like to take a trip in his wee boat, discover the thrill of being borne along by wind and sail, get lots of fresh air and sunshine, and maybe even see some dolphins?

            Her reply, after some thought, was ominous. Looking up at us, she declared:

“I’ll need a new hat.” Continued

 Do you soak the labels off tins and jars before recycling them? Do you constantly have to U-turn back into the house to pick up those re-usable shopping bags because you forgot them the first time? Do you tear off the personal details from the top left hand corners of your mail and rip them into tiny shreds before recycling the rest? Do you take the lids off plastic bottles before binning them so that they crush right down, to stop landfill sites turning into a giant honeycomb of plastic air pockets - a sort of devil’s Crunchie Bar? Do you gaze at your old clothes and think, hmm, let’s see now: charity shop? Clothing bank at the tip? Or will I just keep it on? Continued
